Old Cairo: Coptic Churches, Roman Fortress, and Medieval History

The synagogue itself has been beautifully restored and is open to visitors of all faiths. The nearby Amr ibn al-As Mosque, built in 641 AD and rebuilt and expanded over subsequent centuries, is the oldest mosque on African soil and a place of continuing religious practice alongside its historical significance.
