Cairo Startups Secure Fresh Capital in July Funding Wave
Founders in the capital push new products in fintech and logistics as local accelerators open doors to more teams.
How we reported this
Three Cairo startups closed seed rounds totaling $1.8 million on July 9 after pitching at a closed session hosted by the GrEEK Campus on Talaat Harb Street.
The activity arrives while supply routes through the Red Sea face repeated disruptions and while Egyptian firms look for domestic tools that cut reliance on imported software. Local demand for payment apps and route-planning platforms has risen 22 percent since April according to figures released by the Information Technology Industry Development Agency.
Teams working out of the GrEEK Campus share desks with the new cohort at Flat6Labs on Dokki’s Michel Bakhoum Street. Both sites run weekly demo nights that draw 80 to 100 founders and angel investors each Thursday evening. A third program, the Cairo Innovation Hub run by the Ministry of Communications, opened intake for its agritech track on July 5 and already lists 34 applicants from Giza and Helwan.
Funding and hiring numbers
Egyptian startups raised $47 million in the first half of 2026, with 61 percent of the deals closed by companies headquartered inside Cairo governorate. Average seed cheque size now sits at $420,000, up from $310,000 in the same period last year. At least four firms on Talaat Harb Street posted hiring notices this month for backend engineers offering starting salaries of EGP 28,000 a month plus equity.
Next steps for founders
Teams that missed the July 9 session can register for the next open pitch night at Flat6Labs on July 18. Applications for the Cairo Innovation Hub agritech cohort close on July 22 and require a one-page deck plus revenue projection. Founders in Zamalek and Maadi report that co-working desks at both locations are fully booked through September.
